New Music Mondays #15: Mostly Just Covers

I started compiling my list for this week and I pretty much just liked a bunch of covers. I have to say I am a such a sucker for a good cover so, there's some other stuff thrown in, but this week... Mostly Just Covers :)

What Do You Mean - Justin Bieber

Category: Most Biebs

Be Right There - Diplo & Sleepy Tom

Category: Diplo of the Week

The best part about this week? The new Major Lazer album finally came out and is amazing. Diplo killin' it as usual. I also fell more in love with Twenty One Pilots and apparently, really loved sad songs this week. Check them all out and let me know what you think (tweet me: @lindseybell)!

Be Together (feat. Wild Belle) - Major Lazer

Category: Most Likely to be My New Favorite Diplo Related Song

Everyone knows Diplo is my favorite, with last week's Major Lazer release, Peace is the Mission, I've found a new reason to listen. It's all pretty good, but this is my immediate favorite.

This Summer's Gonna Hurt Like a Motherf****er - Maroon 5

Category: Guilty Pleasure

I am willing to believe there is no one more annoying on the planet than Adam Levine, however, I can't help but love this song... It's a problem.

The Hardest Part of Breaking Up (Is Getting Back Your Stuff) - 2gether

Category: Most Likely to Look Back Fondly on My Middle School Years

2gether was a fake boy band created by MTV for a faux reality show making fun of NSync and Backstreet Boys, etc. If you've never listened to their music I suggest you check it out. My other favorite song: "Say It, Don't Spray It".

Shaped Like a Gun - Tailor

Category: Most Likely to Make Me Cry

A girl danced to this for her tryout on the first episode of this season's So You Think You Can Dance. The song came out in 2012 so it's not exactly new, just new to me. Still beautiful though.

We Won't - Jaymes Young & Phoebe Ryan

Category: Breakout Breakup Song

A song literally breaking down their breakup. Very emotional, but also super catchy. It's like the movie The Break-Up with Jennifer Aniston where in the end your kind of pissed off that there's this whole movie and they don't end up together... Same thing in song form.

Chandelier - Twisted Measure

Category: Cover of the Week

Maybe it's because I'm so obsessed with the Pitch Perfect movies, or it's just because singing groups jamming acoustic is just beautiful... Either way this song is amazing.

Will I See You Again - Christian Lopez Band

Category: The Only Country Song I'll Ever Like

Is this even technically a country song? Either way it's a little more positivity to this playlist because besides Diplo, it's kind of been a downer hahaha :)

Between Me and You - Brandon Flowers

Category: Best Hypeman Back-up Vocals

You might be thinking to yourself, "Gosh, is Lindsey depressed?" And no I'm not! There's a really positive message in this song even though it kind of sounds depressing. Plus, the hypeman back-up vocals are amazing. Listen closely to the "hey", "come on child", and "ya got love". I wanna be a hypeman when I grow up.

Ride - Twenty One Pilots

Category: Best Psuedo Reggae Beat

Continuing my on-going love affair with Twenty One Pilots, I love this song.

Have an amazing week!

HAPPY MONDAY Y'ALL!!!! It's been the craziest week ever, and I am a little late to post this today. I am no less excited though. I found some songs this week that really helped me get through all the craziness. I was a gaint ball of nerves and one of the only things to calm me down is some new music. There's even a song with a banjo in it! If that's not soothing, I'm not sure what is? I'm just kidding, a banjo isn't soothing at all, but it is fun!!!

2 Heads - Coleman Hell

"2 Heads" - Coleman Hell

Get it on iTunes:

Not since "Cotton-Eyed Joe" has a techno song had such a great banjo part in it. Seriously though, it's probably pretty hard to add a banjo into contemporary, American, pop/techno music and not make it cheesy. Somehow Coleman Hell has managed to do just that, and made me a fan in the process. Bring on more banjo in songs please!

Dreaming - Small Pools

"Dreaming" - Small Pools

Get it on iTunes:

Danny is obsessed with this band. This is one of the first new bands in a while that I have heard him actually say he wants to see live. They remind me of a more upbeat The 1975. You can tell that they're a very talented band musically, but they've also written some awesomely catchy music. It's a good combo. Plus look at the album cover and that little pup. So stinkin' cute.

Favorite Line: "We've got no place to go. Caught up in the rodeo."

Entropy - Grimes, Bleachers

"Entropy" - Grimes x Bleachers

Get it on iTunes:

This is not the actual album art for this song, but it's a picture of Bleachers and Grimes who made it. Grimes has some of the best slightly pink bangs in the biz so I used this pic just to look at them. I miss my pink hair and knowing what my next year has in store, I won't have it back any time soon. I'll definitely be doing it again though. This song is for the new season of Girls on HBO, and from what I've read, is or will be featured during a party scene in the series. I'm all about girl singers right now and am glad to add Grimes to the list of ones to watch out for.

Hold Me Up - Conrad Sewell

"Hold Me Up" - Conrad Sewell

Get it on iTunes:

This is a song I showed Billy Burke (Danny's co-host on the Danny Duncan Show Podcast if you're not in the know) and he's obsessed with it. So much so that I was forced to give it another listen. It's pretty dang good. What's most unique about it is ole' Conrad's voice. He can hit some high notes for sure. The whole song is super upbeat and fun. A good one to brighten your day :)

I See Fire - Jasmine Thompson

"I See Fire" - Jasmine Thompson

Get it on iTunes:

This is a beautiful song. It's oiginally off of Ed Sheeran's newest album, but this cover by Jasmine Thompson is to die for. I wish I was still dancing competitively so I could make up a dance to this song. There's so much passion and emotion behind the lyrics. So beautiful.

Shut Up and Dance - Walk the Moon

"Shut Up and Dance" - Walk the Moon

Get it on iTunes:

This has basically been my theme song for the last week. Just shut up and dance is basically all I've told myself haha. I love how fun this song is. It oozes positives vibes and good times. Plus the guy on the cover looks like Vanilla Ice. Is Vanilla Ice in this band? That only make it more awesome! (Spoiler Alert: It's not really Vanilla Ice *sad face*)

Talking Body - Tove Lo

"Talking Body" - Tove Lo

Get it on iTunes:

I've been fighting liking this song, but I just can't help it. Tove Lo blew up last year with her song "Habits". There was about a million remixes it seemed like, and in my opinion, the more of the song that was removed (i.e. the line: "Binge on all the twinkies. Throw up in the tub then I go to sleep"), the better it got. This new one though, still has the catchiness of "Habits", but brings a little more to the table lyrically. Although my favorite line is the least-romantic romantic line ever: "If you love me right, we f**k for life". It' still pretty silly.

Hold My Hand - Jess Glynne

"Hold My Hand" Jess Glynne

Get it on iTunes:

I love the begininng of this song the most. The oh ah oh ohs are my favorite. And the piano. This is such a good running song too.

American You - Yelawolf

"American You" - Yelawolf

Get it on iTunes:

This song came out of nowhere and I love it. It fits in well with the banjo theme of today's post, but it's like a rap-country song. I feel like I've listened to Yelawolf before and liked it, but it never has ever sounded like this. It kind of reminds me of a guilty pleasure Kid Rock song, but I'm so glad that I don't have to say I actually like a Kid Rock song. It feels much better to say I really like a Yelawolf song :)

Roll the Bass - Major Lazer

"Roll the Bass" - Major Lazer

Get it on iTunes:

As this week's song by Diplo, his alter ego Major Lazer makes an appearance. How does Diplo keep coming out with new music every week to make this list? It's kind of mindblowing really. I know it's been under his different project's: Diplo, Jackü, etc. But it's a serious feat to just keep pumping out music. And I actually like it usually. Great job Dip.

With that we are started on the journey of another cray cray week. Keep your heads on straight and have some fun guys! Tweet or comment any songs you love or hate or whatever.

Much Love, Lindsey

Summer '14 Playlist

Summer '14 Playlist

Screen shot 2014-04-04 at 11.33.30 PM

Flowers are finally blooming, birds are chirping and everyone up North is finally getting to take off their snowboots. It's time for some summer inspiration. In Florida, it's already pretty much been hot as balls for two weeks now, so I feel like I've been easily getting great summer time inspiration.

Music moves me. Dating a drummer is no coincidence. There is something so sexy about a person who creates music. And in turn, just something sexy about great music. I thought this would be a great time to tell you all about some of my favorites that I have been blaring as we welcome Summer '14. Maybe you love it, maybe you hate it. Maybe there's a shameless plug (it's still a really good song though). But maybe, just maybe... one of these will be your summer anthem. Here's too being a little sunkissed, too late nights and sand between your toes!

"Girls Like You" The Naked and Famous

I'm pretty hopelessly obsessed with this song right now, and it's like three years old. I don't even care. I'm a lyrically driven music listener, and the lyrics to this are killer. No one wants to be the girl their talking about in this song. It's a pretty deep cut to someone. There's a girl out there who hears this song in a club and loses it every time. "Don't you know people write songs about girls like you?" is not a compliment.  The positive? Dat beat.

"I Like It" We the Kings

Uh, yeah. You hear that drummer? I touch him on the regular. This is my favorite song off of Somewhere, Somehow to jam too. I love how upbeat it is. And guess what... I like it.

"You & Me" Disclosure featuring Eliza Doolittle (Baauer Remix)

I am a Disclosure addict right now. This DJ duo can do no wrong in my eyes. This fun little remix of one of my faves off of Settle, has been one of the best work out and party jams. It kind of makes me feel like I am a child, back in the 90's, hangin' at the skating rink... And I love that about it.

"Ain't It Fun" Paramore

Haley is amazing. She's the best live, she writes fantastic music and she's just an overall badass at life. Great band. Great song.

"Fantasy" MS MR (Nicita Remix)

This is just good.

"Latch (Acoustic)" Sam Smith

Honestly, this is my wedding song whenever that happens. Sam's voice is amazing. I love everything about this. Dreamy.

"Revolution" Diplo

Had to have some Diplo on here. If you have never heard this song, you're missing out. He's my favorite DJ and I love everything he's doing... except "Black Sheep" by Katy Perry. gross.

"Turn Down For What" DJ Snake, Lil Jon

Ultimate party song for an ultimately amazing summer. The boner in the video makes me laugh so hard.
