New Music Mondays #13

HAPPY MONDAY! Although Monday has never been my favorite day of the week, I do always look forward to having a New Music Monday blog post and this week is a doozy. After a couple of weeks of feeling like I was striking out in new music completely, I have come across playlist gold. Here's a few of my favorites.

"Special Affair" - The Internet

Category: Best Baseline

This is one of those songs that has grown on me. It's kind of naughty and catchy. I love a good R&B song from time to time and this one definitely fits that description.

"Rush (feat. Molly) [Sam Feldt Remix]" - Zwette

Category: Saxophone Solo of the Week

This is just one of those dance songs that is going to take off. It's super positive sounding, has a saxophone solo and makes you want to dance. There's not much more you can ask for in life.

"Coming Over (filous Remix" - James Hersey

Category: Best Deep House of the Week

Someone tried to explain to me what "Deep House" is recently and I still don't know if I get it, but I like it. Also, Gabi, my friend from Shore and pretty well-known from the vlogs, showed me this song so it's pretty near and dear to my heart. She has great taste in music.

"R.I.C.O. (feat. Drake)" - Meek Mill

Category: Aren't These Two Feuding?

One word: Drake. I feel like that's all I need sometimes.

"Rise Up" - Andra Day

Category: Inspiration Anthem

This girl can sing. She has an absolutely insane voice and this song really brings out the feels. Love it.

" My Love (feat. Drake)" - Majid Jordan

Category: Question of the Week

Favorite line: "You got your trophies. I know how you like to show 'em off, and shine 'em up and line 'em up. I'm not your trophy, baby. I won't let you show me off, or line me up, or shine me up. No." I think it's a way no one wants to feel in a relationship, like the only reason someone is with you is because of what you do. No one wants to not be loved unconditionally and for the wrong reasons.

"I Was Made For Loving You (feat. Ed Sheeran)" - Tori Kelly

Category: What Love Sounds Like

I feel like this is what love should feel like, ya know? Plus, Ed Sheeran can pretty much do no wrong in my book.

"Weight in Gold" - Gallant

Category: Most Soul

The second verse where he hits THAT note and I lose it. Uh, so good.

"The Party (This Is How We Do It)" - Joe Stone, Montell Jordan

Category: Cover of the Week

I loved the original version of this song. It came out when I was like 2, but still was so big I had heard it and liked it. Pretty cool to hear it resurrected and know every word.

"Ghost Town" - Adam Lambert

Category: Best Remix of the Western Gun Song Ever

The whistle in the chorus is pretty recognizable from The Good The Bad and The Ugly. I think it's really fun that they used it with a house beat.

"Girl Crush" - Little Big Town

Category: Most Therapeutic

There's just some songs that come into your life at the right time and really resonate with what's going on. Art imitates life I guess.

With that I am heading to bed! Hope you all have an amazing week! Send me your song ideas!!!!

Much love, Lindsey

HAPPY MONDAY LOVES!!! Since I've had a few weeks off from posting with the craziness that is my life, I have a ton of awesome new music. There's positive to taking some time off every once in a while :) I finally feel like there is great music coming out again. There were a few weeks there where I liked it, but it wasn't going down as the best week in history for new music. Luckily it seems the release of new Rihanna tunes has brought some other new music out of the woodwork. Gotta love the second quarter to start bringing the heavy hitters back out. Here's too an amazing week, which includes our 500th vlog ever, and a lovely day. As always, let me know what you think by writing in the comments or tweeting me (@lindseybell)!

Somewhere to Run - Krewella

"Somewhere to run" krewella

Get It Here:

Krewella holds special place in my heart. Duncan, the tour manager for We the Kings, also manages Krewella, so I kind of feel like we're all related somehow. They probably do not feel that way because we've never actually met, but I like to think we're all one big happy family. Luckily, their music is awesome so... there's that too.

Pop Thieves - Childish Gambino

"Pop Thieves" Childish Gambino

Get It Here:

I'm a huge Childish Gambino aka Donald Glover fan. I've put a couple of songs of his in my playlist lately. He's creative and I like how smart he sounds. I also like that he started on YouTube. So many positives.

Pony - Zak Waters

"Pony" Zak Waters

Get It Here:

COVER OF THE WEEK! Also my soon-to-be favorite karaoke song. The original came out in the 90's and I remember 2 things about it. #1: It was a huge hit. #2: I had no idea what any of it was about. Well now I am older and wiser and realize that it is a sexualized, R&B masterpiece, definitely worth singing every chance you can get. Bring on the karaoke bars!

Tear In My Heart - 21 Pilots

"Tear In My Heart" twenty one pilots

Get It Here:

It took me a while to get on board the twenty one pilots train. I just didn't get it. This song though, I get. The bridge where he's driving the car cursing the government. Gah! Love it so much. So good.

Mine - Phoebe Ryan

"Mine" Phoebe Ryan

Get It Here:

Don't get it twisted... It's not just because of her green mermaid hair that she makes the list. This girl can sing. Green is my favorite color though.

Hallelujah - Panic! At the Disco

"Hallelujah" Panic! At the Disco

Get It Here:

I'm coming clean ahead of time... I am a huge Panic! fan. I was Lindsey! At the Disco on Myspace at one point. I screamed all the lyrics at like every show... I like Brendon Urie. I am genuinely proud of them for getting their shit back together and putting out good music again. And it really is good... Although I'm still probably a little biased.

Marvin Gaye - Charlie Puth

"Marvin Gaye" Charlie Puth

Get It Here:

You might recognize Charlie from his epic collab with Wiz Khalifa which is currently burning up the airwaves everywhere. You also might recognize his voice as the singer of one of the original CTFxC songs. I love this guy. I only want success for him and am so happy to see him acheiving it.

Night Riders - Major Lazer

"Night Riders" Major Lazer

Get It Here:

DAILY DIPLO! I am just not sure what else to call it when every week I add a Diplo or one of his many other re-incarnations of himself to my playlists.

MUch Love, Lindsey

New Music Mondays #2: JIMMY FRANCO & OTHER STUFF

New Music Mondays #2: JIMMY FRANCO & OTHER STUFF

My favorite thing to do all week is seach for new music. So, my second New Music Mondays post makes me so happy. Music helps me live my life a little bit happier. Even the saddest songs bring a little joy just by being beautiful. It's good to have a mix of music. That's why I'm always in search of some new songs to add to my playlist. Hopefully some new tunes will add a little fun to your life too. Here's to a happy, healthy & fun week ahead!

The Chainsmokers are the folks who brought us the iconic But First, Lemme Take a Selfie song, but their music is more than gimmicks. I also loved their song, "Kanye" and was excited to see they came out with this new one. Their beats are fun and creative. It's a little different than what's out there in EDM right now. They also tend to use people I've never heard of on their tracks. This introduces me to some new voices and I really appreciate that, as I'm sure the lesser known artists appreciate the publicity.

I always have one weekly guilty pleasure and Nick Jonas is locking up the vote this week. I want to hate it, but I can't. It's just too good. You've gained a fan JoBro. Seriously though, I am happy he has made the transition from child star to serious artist, and that he is actually making music I like. Plus, he's easy on the eyes.

There is the most epic saxophone solos in this song! It's pretty much the only reason I love it so much. I had Tep No on the first installment of New Music Mondays too. Maybe she's here to stay? We'll find out next week :)

Imagine Dragons is such a good band. True rockers, that make great music, and I have a huge respect for that. This is my favorite song that I've listened to off of their new album. It's definitely making excited to hear more and pay more attention to this album that I haven't heard much buzz about. Maybe I'm living under a rock and it's blowing up everywhere, but I am just happy I found it.

I love a good sexual R&B song every once a while. I don't know if it's technically R&B because it really picks up once you get into it, but either way it's a good song. He just wanna get you out them clothes... Ohohohohoh... So good!

I am pretty obsessed with this song right now. I have added it to my running playlist and it always motivates me when it comes on. The name of the song is completely irrelevant to what it's about, and I really love when musicians do that. For example, "All Signs Lead to Lauderdale" is an epic A Day to Remember song. All bands should do this once, just for fun. I also went searching for the video to be able to add the YouTube link and realized that Lolawolf is Zoe Kravitz's band! And I love her! Anyone who watches the vlog knows how much I love the movie Divergent and I think it's so cool that Zoe co-starred there, but is also still following in her father, Lenny's, footsteps and building a music career too. Great song, can't wait to hear more.

Pretty much any time Drake, Nicki and Wayne get together I love it. There's just something so good about dirty sexual innuendos, inside jokes and talking about booties. It's fun. I know it's not the music my mom wants to listen to, but I have a Thug Life tattoo so it's definitely up my alley.

I love the bass beat for this song. It's like circular sounding, if that makes sense? It's ok if it doesn't. It reminds of waves on the beach a little bit. It's soothing and fun at the same time.

I am also an admitted fan of songs that sound like they could be from the Lion King. This is another one to add to the list (Other examples include: "Some Nights" by Fun. and "On Top of the World" by Imagine Dragons). It's just so motivating listening to a group of people sing in a foreign language followed by an epic synth solo. I am such a nerd for these songs!

Drake is my favorite. I was really eh about him until he was on SNL last season and was so hilarious. I had always liked his music, but now I am a true fan who just wants to see him succeed. "Energy" reminds me a lot of "0-100". I think he's sticking with a formula that works and I can appreciate that. Killin' it.

In this week's category of Songs So Ridiculous You Have to Hear It to Believe It, "Drop That Kitty" takes the top spot. This song is so ridiculous, but it makes me laugh. I have a really hard time taking Charli XCX seriously, and this doesn't make me think she's gaining any moral credit, but gosh, is it fun to dance to.

So that's my rundown of this weeks favorites. Do you like any of them? Do you hate them? Let me know on twitter: @lindseybell. And what do you think of my new website?

Much Love, Lindsey

NEW Music Mondays #1

New Music Mondays

Welcome to the first edition of NEW MUSIC MONDAYS! I have had so much fun making playlists that I decided to make it a weekly thing. This way I can share some of my new findings with you guys and see what you think. Tweet me (@lindseybell) which song is your favorite!!!!!

Music MondaysGet It On iTunes: Hero - Loma Vista

Get It From Amazon: Hero

This song has gotten a lot of hype since it was featured on the Oscar nominated movie, Boyhood. But it's still a great song. Clean and positive. Love it.

Music MondaysGet It On iTunes: I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles) - I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles) - Single

Get It From Amazon:I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)

Classic song covered with a new twist. Very mellow and positive.

New Music MondaysGet It On iTunes: Blessings (feat. Drake & Kanye West) - Blessings (Extended Version) [feat. Drake & Kanye West] - Single

Get It From Amazon: Blessings [feat. Drake] [Explicit]

I'm pretty much Drake's biggest fan. Anything he does or is on... I love it. Also, it's a good change-up from the mellow stuff I've been listening to.

New Music MondaysGet It On iTunes: I'm Good - Kids In Love

Get It From Amazon: I'm Good

This is one of my favorite band's from a couple of years ago. I'm glad their still making new music. I love them and it's not just because of the obvious Jungle Book reference.

New Music MondaysGet It On iTunes: Take Shelter - Y & Y EP

Get It From Amazon: Take Shelter

The singer of this song has such an R&B voice, but then it's over an ominous house beat. It's sounds like a bad news anthem. Like you're getting into trouble while listening to it.

New Music MondaysGet It On iTunes: I Know You (From The "Fifty Shades of Grey" Soundtrack) - Fifty Shades of Grey (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)

Get It From Amazon: I Know You (From The "Fifty Shades Of Grey" Soundtrack)

Still not over Fifty Shades... Listen to this.

New Music MondaysGet It On iTunes: The Last Ones Standing - The Last Ones Standing - Single

Get It From Amazon: The Last Ones Standing

My musical taste has really mellowed out lately and I'm loving it. This is another example of a good beat and some catchy lyrics. My generation's easy listening.

New Music MondaysGet It On iTunes: Birds Fly (feat. Mr. Probz) - United We Are

Apparently I am mellowing out, but also still dreaming of Vegas with all of this house/EDM/techno music I'm obsessing over. Seriously tho, seeing Diplo was one of the best nights of my life, so I'm not really surprised that I am still listening to it religiously and nonstop. Bring on the electronica, I'm not going anywhere.

New Music MondaysGet It On iTunes: Oblivion (feat. Susanne Sundfør) - Oblivion (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) [Deluxe Edition]

Get It From Amazon: Oblivion (feat. Susanne Sundfør)

This is by no means a new song, but I watch this movie every time it is on tv and have now added this song to my running mix. It's just so motivating!

New Music MondaysGet It On iTunes: F*****g Bitches In the Hood - F*****g Bitches In the Hood - Single

And now a little humor in your day. I tweeted about how obsessed I am with this song last week. It's stupid, but definitely my new anthem. Can't wait for Death Team to come out with more white girl, party anthems for me to drive around town listening to.
