20 OF THE MOST EPIC ROAD TRIP SONGS

ROADTRIP PLAYLIST :)

I love roadtrips. Driving does not stress me out at all. In fact, I think it has the opposite effect. I love making new playlists and listening to a mix of new things that peak my interest and oldies, but goodies. This week, with all the driving back and forth for cheerleading that I will be doing, I thought it was only appropriate to put together the ultimate roadtrip playlist, especially since I've missed a couple of weeks of New Music Mondays. I'll spend at least 13 hours on the road this week and want to have something to look forward to. Hopefully this will motivate me to take an actual roadtrip during an upcoming off week!

Bless the Broken Road - Rascal Flats

Get it on iTunes:

This is one of those emotional songs that everyone knows. Even if you think you don't know the lyrics, you actually do. Just sing along and enjoy the ride.

Drive - Incubus

Get it on iTunes:

Incubus was one of my favorite bands as a kid. This was the first song I had ever heard by them. I would sneak out of my room and watchlate night MTV. I love that the lead singer and my voices favor the same register. This is one of my favorite shower singing songs. Plus it's called "Drive", perfect for a road trip.

Empty Space - The Story So Far

Get it on iTunes:

This isn't necessarily a song about driving, but get ready to air drum on your steering wheel anyways! This band definitely hasn't gotten the full popularity it deserves. They are so talented and such good dudes. Danny and I will be going to see them in May and I am seriously counting down the days.

Go Your Own Way - Fleetwood Mac

Get it on iTunes:

I wouldn't suggest actually taking the advice of this song during your trip. Google Maps just has a better idea of directions I'm guessing. But, it's a great song to just chill out to. Little known fact, I'm named after Lindsey Buckingham, the lead guitarist of Fleetwood Mac.

Hold On We're Going Home - ASTR

Get it on iTunes:

If you haven't figured it out from every playlist I have ever put together, I am telling you now, I am a sucker for a good cover song. Throw in a little Drake and have a girl with a fun voice sing it?!? YES PLEASE. Plus, what's more Road Trip-y than going home?

Holland Road - Mumford and Sons

Get it on iTunes:

Holland Road is my favorite song off of Mumford and Sons' 2012 album, Babel. It's on this playlist because it's a good song and it's about a road :)

Home - Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes

Get it on iTunes:

I am an old school Ed Sharpe fan. I first out about them when Danny played a Bamboozle back forever ago, right whenWe the Kings was first blowing up. If you look back far enough, my very last MySpace profile song was Ed Sharpe's first song he ever released. Home was an unbelieveable hit, and definitely belongs on this list.

Life is a Highway - Rascal Flats

Get it on iTunes:

It's not like I'm a huge Rascal Flats fan, but like I said, I am a huge cover song fan. This song is just more fun to sing with a little country twang. And I mean, check out the cover art! That's the road I want to be driving down while on my road trip!

Long Drive - Jason Mraz

Get it on iTunes:

Nothing is better than a Jason Mraz love song. His voice is like butter. Long Drive is off of his newest album, and officially entering into the list of favorite Jason Mraz songs. It's hard to do because there are so many good ones.

On the Road Again - Willie Nelson

Get it on iTunes:

You can't have a road trip playlist without this song on it. It's not like I'm going to listen to it every time it comes on, but it just can't be passed over. Ya know?

Radar Love - Golden Earring

Get it on iTunes:

I love me a good classic rock song. I have no idea who Golden Earring is, although my Dad defiitely explained them to me and how they had other great songs, but this is the only one that blew up or something... the man's a wealth of knowledge about 60's, 70's and 80's rock music. Anyways, I also don't know what radar love is, but they make it sound really fun.

Revolution - Diplo

Get it on iTunes:

I'm just going to start calling it #DefinitiveDiplo and it's the must have Diplo/Jackü/Major Lazer track for the week. Diplo always bring the fun.

Running on Empty - Jackson Browne

Get it on iTunes:

Another classic road trip anthem. Just listening to this evokes cinematic images of driving scenes from movies past. I can't remember a specific one, but I know they're out there.

Shut Up and Drive - Rihanna

Get it on iTunes:

What do you need when you're on the last leg of a trip and are just grasping at any bit of motivation to not pull over and take a nap in your backseat? Look no further than Rihanna telling you to Shut Up and Drive to finish out the trip.

Slow Ride - Foghat

Get it on iTunes:

If you don't already own this song, you should. I never get sick of it.

Speed Limit - Boyce Avenue

Get it on iTunes:

I love giving credit to YouTubers whenever I get the chance. These guys have truly made a name for themselves being ridiculously talented and making beautiful music. Definitely worth a listen.

Take it Easy - Eagles

Get it on iTunes:

"Don't let the sound of your own wheels drive you crazy." No quote is better for driving for longs hours, or even life in general, than this.

The Boys are Back in Town - Thin Lizzy

Get it on iTunes:

I'm rounding out this playlist with some serious classic rock hits. I'm a girl and I still love singing this song when I'm driving back into town. I feel like it is especially poignant when I'm driving into Tallahassee about to have some fun with my old college friends. It's perfect for when you're back on your old stomping grounds.

The Space Between - Valencia

Get it on iTunes:

This is one of my favorite bands of all time and this is the song that got me to know them. Always a good edition to any playlist.

Up Around the Bend - Creedance Clearwater Revival

Get it on iTunes:

Finishing out the road trip playlist with aa little CCR. We love our Creedance in the South. I'm pretty sure people love their Creedance in most other regions too. Up Around the Bend feels like it's the most driving friendly of their songs.

Well here's to finishing out this crazy week and making it amazing! If you could take a road trip anywhere, where would you go and who would you take with you? I'd take Danny, obviously, and Mr. King and we would head for the national parks out west for a few weeks :)

Much Love, Lindsey
