Last night the AMAs took to the airwaves to provide a little musical entertainment for our Sunday night. I think most of the performances were largely underwhelming, but at least there were some fashion stand-outs to applaud! Here's some of my favorites:
Jhene´ Aiko in Alice and Olivia
There's something about this dress that I love. I can't quite put my finger on it, but I am drawn to it. It might be because it's different than what everyone else had on, or that it's Alice and Olivia (a line that I have loved, but never owned a piece of personally) that makes me attracted to it. I've heard a lot about this new R&B breakout singer in the last week too. In the fashion world, she's done a holiday spread for Revolve Clothing, one of my favorite online shops. It's the perfect storm of interest. She's pulled me in.
Julianne Hough in Zuhair Murad
I can't deny my love for coral-y orange. It's my favorite color to wear. I also love how simple this dress is, but still sexy and dazzling. This is what I would wear on a red carpet guaranteed.
The Kardashian/Jenner Clan in Yigal Azrouel (on Kendall), Versace (on Khloe) and Alexandre Vauthier (on Kylie)
It's pretty easy to tell that these ladies own a retail store, have stylists in their family and keep up with what's going on in fashion. I always love what they're wearing, even if they themselves drive me nuts. I know that Kendall is a professional model and models look great in just about anything, but I love her mesh dress. Khloe looks amazing and Kylie's shoes are to die for. I read on some fashion blogs about how they thought Kylie's dress was a little sexual for a 17 year old to be running around in, but let's face it... Kylie isn't a normal 17 year old. I mean she dates a 25 year old rapper and had plastic surgery (allegedly) already. Either way, I think she and they look great.
I love the bold statements that Rita always makes with her pieces! I am a huge fan of staying true to your style and edginess of your personality. Rita always rings true. I've seen mixed reviews of this dress across other sites. I think you either love it or hate it. One blogger wrote that the train would be hard to deal with. Have you never seen Zac Posen's dresses? To be anointed the honor to wear one on the red carpet, you must first prove you can handle all the fabric! I don't actually know if that's true, but sometimes with fashion comes pain or annoyance, but in this case, the beauty of the final product is completely worth it.
